There are deadlines that have to be met. IEP meetings that must be conducted. Parent concerns that have to be resolved and all these can be managed; however, DO THE INTERRUPTIONS EVER STOP!!!
I like what my adviser recently offered when he asked the question, "Do you have a radio?" I responded, "Yes." He said, "Get rid of it!" Lol! So, I've taken his advise..... Peace at last, Peace at last. Thank God almighty, I have peace at last...until they call my cell phone. I love my job.
That is awesome Joe! Many distractions pop up during the day. I am learning just because I have a to do list doesn't mean that I will get the to do list done. I usually do a lot of work that requires me to sit at my desk. I have already been known "to get missing" in order to do some work.
ReplyDeleteJust remember to keep priorities a priority and provide flexibility with everything else.
Gerard,
ReplyDeleteSince I have become a "Focused Leader" and shared responsibilities with the case managers on my team, I receive fewer radio calls. I have become confident with responding to the front desk clerk, "I am not available to see "XYZ" guest at this time" particularly when I am in a meeting with a parent or another teacher.
